Iconic James Bond Aston Martin Vanquish Heads to Auction at H&H Classics

Bond enthusiasts and film fans are in for a treat as H&H Classics announces the auction of an Aston Martin Vanquish, famously promoted by Pierce Brosnan and EON Productions for 'Die Another Day'.

This notable Vanquish, the centrepiece of a parade marking the M6 Toll road's inauguration in 2003, is set to go under the hammer. The sale unfolds on Wednesday, 9th October, at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, promising an estimated £50,000 to £70,000. This V12-powered, near 200mph GT started as one of seven press cars retained by Aston Martin, each sequentially registered from 'Y829 MWL' to 'Y836 MWL', excluding 'Y830 MWL'. Specifically, 'Y834 MWL' gained fame through various media appearances before reaching Pinewood Studios for a photo shoot with Pierce Brosnan.

The images captured during this session propelled the global promotion of 'Die Another Day', featuring this specific car due to its Tungsten Silver finish, complemented by Charcoal leather and an aluminium centre console—mirroring the film’s hero cars.

Joining Brosnan, Halle Berry starred in the film, with Madonna contributing the title song and a cameo. The model is up for auction, briefly sporting the 'M16 SPY' number plate, which was later registered as 'A12 AML'. It boasts just 37,800 miles and has been a part of a prominent collection for over two decades.

Its interior merges technology with traditional materials, epitomising the state-of-the-art design of its era. Today, the iconic collaboration between James Bond and 'Y834 MWL' continues to feature in various media outlets.

James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, enthused, "Our October auction offers an unparalleled opportunity to acquire a slice of movie and motoring history with this stunning Aston Martin Vanquish. Not only did it grace Pinewood Studios for photoshoots with Pierce Brosnan, but it also inaugurated the M6 Toll road."

'Die Another Day' also played a pivotal role in rejuvenating the partnership between EON Productions and Aston Martin, ensuring the marque has supplied all of James Bond's hero cars since 2002.
