Mercedes-AMG Unveils PureSpeed: A Bold Leap into Elite Sports Car Innovation

Mercedes-AMG is entering the final phase of developing the highly exclusive PureSpeed sports car, which debuted as a concept vehicle in Monaco in May 2024. Currently, prototypes of this limited edition model are undergoing test drives, starting on diverse roads in northern Italy before advancing south to the high-speed test track in Nardò. This radically designed, completely open, two-seater performance car, devoid of a roof and windscreen, pays tribute to racing. It must endure a rigorous test programme covering over 3,000 kilometres.

Throughout these tests, the development team concentrates on various tasks to ensure the two-seater's high quality under real-life driving conditions. These tests confirm the functionality and integration of all systems and components. Additionally, the spectacular body concept undergoes evaluations in various conditions to meet stringent quality standards. Moreover, experts are fine-tuning the car for dynamic handling and high-speed performance on the test track. Complete vehicle testing on public roads occurs in collaboration with project partner Pininfarina, experts in small-volume specialist projects.

A vital feature of the two-seater is the HALO system, which replaces the traditional A-pillar and is derived from top-level motorsport to protect occupants in accidents. Like Formula 1, the aerodynamically optimised safety system in the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed comprises a curved bar fixed to the vehicle body. Two aerodynamically optimised helmets offer additional protection, designed and produced exclusively for the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed.

Limited to just 250 units, this small production run caters exclusively to a select group of enthusiasts and collectors. Inspired by legendary racing cars, the unique racing aesthetics and exceptionally dynamic performance render the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed a distinctive driving experience for connoisseurs. It marks the inaugural model in the new ultra-limited Mercedes-Benz Mythos series.
