Introducing the New Hyundai INSTER: A Cutting-edge Small EV with Unmatched Performance and Range
Hyundai Motor UK has launched the pricing and specifications for the brand-new INSTER, marking Hyundai's first foray into the European small electric vehicle (EV) market.
As Hyundai's initial compact SUV EV, the INSTER combines practicality for city driving with robust performance for longer journeys. It achieves a maximum range of 229 miles and includes standard features such as a heat pump and battery heating system to optimise charging times.
The INSTER features a sturdy yet compact SUV design with sleek, smooth surfaces and pronounced design elements. It adopts the pixel design on the front bumper from the IONIQ family and sports a striking skid plate that enhances the front and rear appearance. The INSTER offers customisation options, including LED projection headlamps, a two-tone exterior with a contrasting black roof, and 15-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, depending on the model.
Internally, the INSTER is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and convenience features, including a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a matching infotainment touchscreen with navigation, and a wireless charging dock. The interior also boasts customisable upper door trim garnishes, allowing owners to personalise their vehicle further. The INSTER's layout provides versatility and spaciousness, with all seats, including the driver's seat, able to fold flat to maximise flexibility.
The INSTER excels in DC charging speed and capacity, allowing for less charging time and more driving. Available with either a standard 42kWh battery or an optional Long-Range 49kWh battery, the INSTER is powered by a single motor delivering 71.1 kW (97 PS) and 84.5 kW (115 PS) in the Long-Range model, with both providing 147 Nm of torque.
Fitted with an 11kW onboard charger, the INSTER optimises both range and charging times. Its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allows for powering external devices directly, supporting bidirectional charging without additional equipment.
The INSTER boasts its segment's most comprehensive technology package, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist Rear and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. It also offers Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Smart Cruise Control, enhancing safety and driving ease.
The INSTER range starts with the 42kWh 97PS INSTER 01 model, priced from £23,495. This model features extensive equipment such as intelligent cruise control, automatic headlights, and an innovative key system. The higher-section 49kWh 115PS INSTER 02 model, priced from £26,745, includes features like 17-inch alloy wheels, front parking sensors, and ambient interior lighting.
Available in nine exterior colours and various interior trims, the INSTER is showcased at the INSTER Roadshow, which 86 Hyundai retailers visit from October to December. Early responses indicate significant showroom excitement for its design, features, and pricing, affirming Hyundai's commitment to advanced electrified urban mobility.
