Ken Block's Final Drift: Electrikhana 2 Tribute Sparks Motorsport World

The motorsport world was rocked at the start of January by the passing of drifting icon Ken Block. His final, previously unreleased episode of famous drift videos is a poignant tribute to the American legend.

Filmed in November 2022 with the Audi S1 Hoonitron, 'Electrikhana 2' is a testament to Block's legacy. Tragically, Block passed away in a snowmobile accident just weeks after filming at the age of 55. It was a heartfelt endeavour for Block's family to ensure the completion and release of the film in his honour.

Ken Block fans can relish witnessing their idol one last time through exhilarating driving scenes and daring stunts with the Audi S1 Hoonitron. Developed by Audi Sport exclusively for Block, this all-electric prototype boasts two electric motors, an all-wheel drive, a formidable output of 500 kW, a carbon fibre chassis, and FIA-standard safety features. Following the initial filming of Electrikhana in August 2022, the S1 Hoonitron underwent further enhancements in collaboration with Block, focusing on weight reduction, drivability improvements, and simulated gear changes.

In the inaugural episode, Block took the Audi S1 Hoonitron on a thrilling drift through Las Vegas, captivating over 100 million viewers worldwide across various platforms. Electrikhana 2, however, was set in Mexico City, a metropolis boasting a population of 22 million and offering many captivating locations for the crew of Hoonigan, Block's company. From the sleek airport to a spiral-shaped parking garage, Mexico City provided a stunning backdrop for the film.

Collaborating with engineers from Audi Sport, Block introduced a unique feature for Electrikhana 2, complementing a new livery. Utilising the capabilities of an electric vehicle, one scene showcases the front and rear axles pulling in opposite directions, causing the Audi S1 Hoonitron to vanish into a billowing white cloud when stationary—a moment ideally in line with Block's spirit and adoring fan base.
