Kimera Automobili Unveils K39 Hyper Retromod for the 2025 Pikes Peak Challenge
Kimera Automobili celebrates Italian motorsport legends with its latest revelation, the K39 hyper retromod, targeting a victory at Pikes Peak in 2025. The company has unveiled this racing car to compete in the historic "Race to the Clouds," a motorsport event with deep roots.
On 22 June 2024 in Colorado Springs, Kimera Automobili shared the story behind the K39. Named after a mythical creature known for its unbeatable nature, the Kimera car embodies a blend of real and visionary elements that pushes the boundaries of reality.
Luca Betti, a man whose early memories include celebrating atop a Lancia Stratos, founded Kimera as a motorsport team over a decade ago. Having triumphed in key international rally events as a driver, Betti evolved his venture into Kimera Automobili, marking the beginning with the EVO37 project in 2021. This initiative celebrated the last two-wheel drive to clinch a world title in 1983, and its 37 units quickly became coveted collector's items.
Following the success of EVO37, Kimera Automobili honoured the Martini Racing team's seven World Championships with the special 'Martini 7' edition. February saw the unveiling of EVO38 at the Geneva Motor Show, an ambitious project that resurrected an almost forgotten dream from 40 years ago. With four-wheel drive and an updated aesthetic, this model continued to pay tribute to Italy's racing car dynasty from the late 20th century.
Today, Kimera Automobili announces the K39 as the third tribute to an iconic era, embracing its motorsport roots. The K39, adhering to the numerical sequence of its predecessors, prepares to line up at the starting point of Pikes Peak, America's epic race. Its design, heavily influenced by the ‘Silhouette’ of Martini Racing, features a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and bodywork shaped for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
As other manufacturers aim to conquer the peak with high-tech vehicles, Kimera retains a philosophy centred on endurance and mechanical purity. The K39 represents a blend of tradition and sustainable technology, appealing deeply to enthusiasts.
