CUPRA and ABT Collaboration: Exclusive Customisations for the Leon & Formentor

CUPRA expands its collaboration with ABT by unveiling a range of customised vehicles, adding a new dimension to their partnership beyond racing and onto the road.

CUPRA and ABT’s celebrated history weaves an emotional narrative through racing triumphs. Under the ABT CUPRA XE banner, they compete in radical off-road Extreme E events in remote regions affected by climate change and electrify the single-seat Formula E championship with the ABT CUPRA team.

Now, the CUPRA-ABT story moves forward. From 2026, models like the CUPRA Leon and Formentor will gain exclusive enhancements to elevate their design. This extended partnership was announced at ABT’s headquarters in Kempten, Germany.

“The CUPRA and ABT collaboration has delivered iconic vehicles that blend the unconventional challenger brand’s ethos with ABT’s unique approach to performance,” said CUPRA’s Executive Vice-President for Sales and Marketing, Sven Schuwirth. “From the limited edition CUPRA Formentor VZ5 BAT x ABT and its raw road performance to our battles on the Extreme E and Formula E track, we’ve combined sales success with racing victories. Now we’re taking it to a new level, building on these achievements to create variants of our most desirable models, all originating from the heart of Barcelona.”

The first vehicles to benefit are the CUPRA Leon and Formentor, which will be available worldwide. They will showcase how the challenger brand and ABT combine their expertise to produce high-performance, design-led machines.

Through subtle but distinct features, both the Formentor and Leon gain fresh emotional appeal. A dynamic roof spoiler, front and rear splitter, side skirt, diffuser, aerodynamic elements, and ABT branding deliver a commanding presence. In addition, 21-inch ABT-specific wheels enhance each model’s stance further.

CUPRA and ABT draw inspiration from the home of the Challenger brand. Both the Leon and Formentor are designed, developed, and produced at CUPRA’s facility in Martorell—vehicles born in Barcelona and available worldwide.

“CUPRA and ABT have enjoyed an intensive and trusting partnership for many years, which now reaches a new level with this cooperation,” said Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the ABT Group. “We are delighted to present a customised special edition of the CUPRA Formentor and Leon that carries the ABT name.” ABT has been upgrading CUPRA models both visually and technically for years.

Looking ahead, the two brands will continue to challenge conventions from their Barcelona base. A future collaboration for the forthcoming CUPRA Raval—a fully electric, urban model designed for a more rebellious electric world—promises to push the boundaries of performance and innovation even further.
