LEGO and McLaren Launch New Technic Model Celebrating the Iconic P1™ Hybrid Hypercar
McLaren Automotive and the LEGO Group have unveiled their latest collaboration that celebrates the pioneering hybrid hypercar, the world-renowned McLaren P1™, with the introduction of the LEGO® Technic™ McLaren P1™.
The McLaren P1™ has redefined high-performance motoring, establishing itself as the most thrilling, capable, advanced, and dynamically superior supercar of its era. It utilises McLaren’s cutting-edge motorsport engineering, incorporating revolutionary advancements in weight reduction, packaging, high-speed capabilities, powertrain, and aerodynamics.
Aiming to be 'the ultimate driver's car on both road and track', the design and technical specifications of the McLaren P1™ set the perfect stage to achieve this goal. This remarkable hypercar is acknowledged as a milestone for McLaren and the evolution of high-performance hybrid vehicles.
The exceptional engineering and technology that drive the performance, style, and functionality of the McLaren P1™ posed the ideal challenge for the LEGO Technic team to recreate at a 1:8 scale.
Presented as part of the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series, the brand-new 1:8 scale LEGO Technic version consists of 3,893 pieces. Each model features a unique serial number that unlocks exclusive behind-the-scenes content. The model includes a 7-speed gearbox with two shifter drums, a suspension system, a V8 piston engine, an adjustable rear wing, and dihedral doors with an advanced opening mechanism – all ensuring an immersive building experience from start to finish that mirrors the true essence of the real McLaren P1™.
The LEGO Technic team designed the model in close collaboration with McLaren Automotive. Both teams dedicated themselves to incorporating as much advanced functionality as possible, honouring both the real P1™ and McLaren's renowned engineering excellence.
