Lotus Unveils Type 136: A Trailblazing E-Bike Revolutionising Performance Riding!

Lotus reveals the Type 136, a groundbreaking performance model featuring the lightest e-bike motor from HPS*, designed to enhance dual-use functionality for riders seeking extended range, increased speed, and elevated performance.

Crafted with over 30 years of cycling expertise, the new bike blends cutting-edge technology with iconic design cues, drawing inspiration from Lotus' Olympic velodrome victories, including the gold medal-winning Type 108 bike at the 1992 Barcelona Games and recent success at Tokyo 2020. Handcrafted in Italy, the Type 136 boasts a lightweight carbon fibre frame and advanced components, tipping the scales at just 9.8 kilograms. Its aerodynamic silhouette, featuring V-shaped handlebars, wing-shaped forks, and vaulted chain stays, ensures swift and efficient airflow.

Setting a new standard in convenience, the bike incorporates a battery cleverly disguised as a water bottle, easily detachable at the push of a button. The revolutionary Watt Assist Pro Motor system, derived from the Mars Lander Project, prioritises minimal weight and zero maintenance, weighing only 1.2 kilograms.

In line with Lotus' tradition of exclusive Type numbers, the Type 136 is limited to just 136 bikes in its inaugural production run, each individually numbered and adorned with an iconic motorsport livery. Additional models will be available for purchase in Spring 2024.

Renowned for its luxury performance vehicles, Lotus has expanded its portfolio to include all-electric models, such as the Emeya hyper-GT and Eletre hyper-SUV, with the Evija as its pinnacle. However, Lotus' legacy extends beyond the automotive realm, with a storied history in track cycling, epitomised by the legendary Type 108 bike.

The unveiling of the Type 136 at the Lotus London brand store marks a pivotal moment in the brand's high-performance journey. It reaffirms its commitment to innovation and pushing boundaries both on and off the track.
