McMurtry Automotive Accelerates Innovation with New Track Testing Partnership at Castle Combe Circuit
McMurtry Automotive, a trailblazing electric hypercar manufacturer based in Gloucestershire, will conduct track tests of its newest model at the Wiltshire race track, Castle Combe Circuit, in 2024. This venture marks a significant collaboration between the two local entities.
The partnership enables McMurtry Automotive to organise multiple private testing days on the 1.85-mile high-speed track and to feature custom branding at the venue throughout the year. Furthermore, McMurtry Automotive has recently welcomed two Wiltshire College Motorsport Campus technicians at the Castle Combe Circuit into its team, reinforcing its commitment to the local community and fostering a strong bond with the circuit.
Since its establishment in 2016, McMurtry Automotive has been a trailblazer in vehicle technology, particularly in downforce generation, crafting hypercars that set new standards in performance. The company's remarkable feat of breaking the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb record in 2022 with its Spéirling fan car, driven by Max Chilton, catapulted McMurtry Automotive to international acclaim, instilling confidence in its capabilities and innovation.
The firm frequently utilises Castle Combe Circuit for the developmental testing of the iconic Spéirling. The new agreement solidifies this relationship, facilitating continued testing for the upcoming Spéirling PURE customer track car.
Thomas Yates, Managing Director of McMurtry Automotive, highlighted Castle Combe Circuit's strategic location, just 30 minutes from their headquarters. This location streamlines the vehicle development process by allowing real-time feedback from track testing. He praised the Castle Combe team for their active support, which enhances the efficiency and productivity of test days.
Max Symonds, the circuit's commercial manager, expressed enthusiasm for McMurtry's extended use of the track in 2024, which will support the development of their innovative electric vehicles. He underscored Castle Combe Circuit's commitment to advancing electric motorsport and its support for EVs, noting the circuit's role in hosting EV track days and its plans to enhance on-site EV charging facilities soon.
