Mercedes-AMG Unveils GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ at Goodwood: A New Benchmark in Sports Performance

Mercedes-AMG unveiled the latest addition to the AMG GT family at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+. Targeting car enthusiasts, this model elevates driving dynamics with its swift response and enhanced performance, which is particularly noticeable on race tracks. With increased power, refined aerodynamics, reduced lift, and improved cooling, the GT 63 PRO promises faster circuit times.

Maintaining the benefits of its predecessors, this model also meets customer demands for better everyday usability. The second-generation AMG GT offers ample space and excellent visibility. Available with optional 2+2 seating in the UK, it features high-tech components like the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active roll stabilisation, standard rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics, enhancing the driving profile. The sporty coupe uses the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive to harness its power effectively.

The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, now at 450 kW (612 hp), provides formidable thrust, boasting an increase of 20 kW (27 hp) over the AMG GT 63. Modifications to the engine control unit have boosted the maximum torque by 50 Nm to 850 Nm, enabling more vigorous acceleration. Particularly impressive at high speeds, the AMG GT 63 PRO accelerates from zero to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 317 km/h.

The cooling systems have been enhanced to ensure performance under strain. Dual radiators positioned in the front wheel arches improve cooling, boosting track drivetrain performance. Actively cooled radiators mounted on the differentials and the transfer case of the all-wheel drive system ensure consistent temperature control.

Further, the redesigned air guide vanes and brake cover plates enhance brake cooling, increasing durability and reducing temperature spikes. The aerodynamic adjustments enhance both longitudinal and lateral dynamics. The front apron, now featuring additional carbon fibre air deflectors around more oversized side intakes, and a standard aerodynamics package with a fixed rear wing reduce front axle lift by over 30 kilograms, sharpening steering precision.

Standard features include AMG ceramic high-performance composite brakes with Mercedes-AMG's most significant ceramic discs and a six-piston fixed calliper setup at the front. The brakes, made with high-strength titanium like those used in motorsport, offer enhanced durability and fade resistance, which is vital for fast lap times and daily driving safety.

The AMG Performance 21-inch forged wheels, exclusive in Himalaya grey, are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres. The AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package links the car to its motorsport heritage, while black-painted brake callipers, AMG Performance seats, and an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/MICROCUT microfibre round out the standard offerings.
