Mercedes-AMG Unveils PureSpeed Concept at Monaco Grand Prix: A New Era of Performance and Luxury

Mercedes‑AMG electrifies the Formula 1™ Monaco Grand Prix run-up, unveiling the thrilling Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed concept. This revolutionary design showcases a fully open, two-seater performance car that eschews roof and windscreen, paying homage to the adrenaline-pumping world of motor racing. As a sneak peek into the exclusive Mercedes-Benz Mythos series, this concept car marks the first of its kind, with the world premiere stealing the spotlight in a grand reveal on a floating pontoon in Monaco's harbour. Racing icons Lewis Hamilton and George Russell from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team were notably impressed by the unveiling.

Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, captures the essence of this concept, stating, "The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept invites you to experience performance and driving pleasure in the most direct manner possible. Completely open to the elements, it allows unfiltered engagement with light, air, and passion, enhancing the thrill of driving. With exclusive design features like the HALO, it evokes the spirit of Formula 1, making its debut in Monaco a perfect fit."

The Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed concept, a true masterpiece, stands as the epitome of exclusivity in Mercedes-Benz's lineup. It seamlessly blends the raw aesthetics of a race car with state-of-the-art materials and technology. With a limited production run of just 250 units, this vehicle is a dream come true for the most passionate Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors, offering an unmatched fusion of racing heritage and dynamic performance.

Pushing the boundaries of innovation, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept incorporates the iconic HALO system, a crucial safety feature in Formula 1™ since 2018. This not only enhances driver protection but also maintains the vehicle's aesthetic finesse. Including specially designed aerodynamic helmets extends the F1 experience to passengers, offering a panoramic view akin to that of a race car driver.

With its captivatingly low stance and design elements inspired by the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar, the PureSpeed concept car is a sight. It juxtaposes technical carbon fibre components with sensuous curves, creating a visual feast. The unique wheel design, featuring carbon fibre cladding, is a visual treat optimised for enhanced aerodynamics and cooling.

The vehicle's front is distinguished by a "shark nose" profile, AMG branding, and a chrome-plated Mercedes star, complemented by a sportive hood and strategically placed deflectors that streamline airflow over the cockpit.

Side-sill panelling with aero flicks and muscular shoulders above the rear wheels culminate in an elegantly designed rear that highlights the vehicle’s width. Further embracing its motorsport heritage, the rear flying buttresses recall legendary race cars like the 300 SLR.

The vehicle’s paintwork transitions from Le Mans red to graphite grey, topped with a black AMG pattern, nodding to the historical Mercedes victory at the 1924 Targa Florio. This design element celebrates a century-old triumph and strategically leverages colour to resonate with the heritage and passion of Italian race enthusiasts.

The Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed concept redefines the performance car genre and establishes a new benchmark for exclusivity and innovation in the automotive world.
