Morgan Supersport: The Definitive British Sports Car Redefining 21st-Century Driving
Introducing the Supersport, Morgan’s new flagship model. This groundbreaking sports car blends evolved design and advanced dynamics in equal measure. It confidently delivers higher practicality, refinement, and driving engagement throughout the Morgan range.
The Supersport marks the next generation of Morgan sports cars by extending the company’s core philosophy of celebrating functional design and mechanical honesty. It’s redefined proportions, more intelligent surface treatment, and reduced complexity create a contemporary design language while preserving the unmistakable Morgan identity.
Morgan achieves the Supersport’s sophisticated driving dynamics thanks to the new CXV aluminium platform. This evolution hones the analogue feel that defines Morgan sports cars, giving drivers more incredible feedback and a more intimate connection with the vehicle.
An interchangeable soft-top or hard-top roof, a rear boot, and a new widescreen mounting mechanism enhance everyday usability. Inside, occupants benefit from Bluetooth connectivity with hands-free calling, an enhanced Sennheiser audio system, and wireless smartphone charging.
“Supersport marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Morgan – a flagship that reflects the spirit and confidence of our brand today. Thanks to its new lightweight ‘CXV’ aluminium platform, it combines dynamic performance with a contemporary yet unmistakable design. Every element has been considered to create a responsive and engaging driving experience, where technology subtly enhances, rather than overwhelms, the connection between car and driver.
More than just a sports car, Supersport embodies the dedication and passion of our small but exceptional team of engineers, designers, and craftspeople. Their unwavering pursuit of excellence has given rise to a flagship that evolves our legacy while staying deeply grounded in our heritage. Every Morgan carries an inherent honesty, and Supersport is no exception—crafted with care, built to be bespoke, and designed to offer something increasingly rare today: pure, undiluted driving joy.” Matthew Hole, Managing Director, Morgan Motor Company
Supersport represents a progression of Morgan’s functional design philosophy, presenting a modern exploration of the brand’s timeless silhouette, yet remaining instantly recognisable as a Morgan. This philosophy emphasises design honesty by requiring vehicle elements to serve multiple purposes. Rather than reflecting a single era, Supersport draws on inspirations from various periods to create an entirely new yet timeless appeal.
Intelligent surface treatments and a minimalist approach contribute to Supersport’s modern aesthetic. It's evolved shape features a more aerodynamic profile, while lifted volumes in the front and rear wings hint at enhanced performance. First previewed on the limited-run barchetta, Midsummer, which debuted in May 2024, this fresh silhouette is now purpose-built for the Supersport.
Each flowing aluminium body panel is hand-crafted by Morgan’s skilled artisans. In contrast, the vehicle’s precise and engineered platform elements—including satin grey painted sills, rear diffuser, and front splitter—visually showcase the chassis updates and advanced engineering beneath the flowing bodywork. This dramatic contrast epitomises Morgan’s ‘21st Century Coachbuilding’ ethos, in which modern technology and traditional craftsmanship coexist harmoniously.
Viewed from the front, the Supersport’s bold splitter seamlessly integrates with the ‘horseshoe’ cowl. Although familiar in shape, the cowl features a minimalist mesh centre section. It comes in satin chrome as standard, with an optional dark finish available in the “Dark Accent Pack.” The always dark matte grey splitter is flanked by two ‘overrides’ in the upper corners—modern interpretations of classic Morgan overrides. Integrated 8-inch LED headlights incorporate the front indicators, eliminating the need for separate lighting pods.
The shoulder line emerges from the side profile thanks to the raised door height and lifted tail. This ‘third line’ subtly evolves the silhouette that has defined four-wheeled Morgan cars since 1936. An asymmetric recess in the scuttle panel, positioned beside the centrally hinged bonnets, uses high-pressure airflow in front of the windscreen to feed the HVAC system. Similarly, the bonnet’s side interface with the scuttle panel creates a large ‘air-off’ vent for engine cooling, removing the need for vents or louvres on the bonnet itself. Discreet bonnet catches integrate seamlessly, simplifying opening and closing.
At the rear, the Supersport’s dramatic, sweeping tail and boot stand out. LED rear lights and reflectors sit within the rear diffuser, leaving the rear wings uninterrupted. Centrally mounted fog and reverse lights remain nearly invisible when inactive, framed by the vehicle’s twin exhaust pipes. Offered in silver or black tips, Supersport’s active sports exhaust has been tuned specifically for this model. Rear overriders match those at the front and serve as mounting points for an optional laser-cut aluminium luggage rack, available in satin silver or dark grey, pivoting rearwards to allow boot access.
Supersport is Morgan’s first new model to feature a boot. Operated through the remote central locking key, it provides ample room for sidescreen stowage and overnight luggage. Lined with box-weave carpet that matches the interior, it also exposes a single lacquered ash panel once opened, highlighting Morgan’s unique use of this traditional material. The boot’s outer panel sports a raised Morgan wordmark, rendered in the company’s ‘HFS’ typeface—a nod to the lettering used in Morgan’s original 1909 wings logo.
Morgan’s in-house graphics team designed the ‘HFS’ typeface, which also appears on the analogue dials. Showcasing a mid-century-inspired concave fascia, the dials use pad-printed numerals around their faces, with subtle rim lighting emphasising their depth and shape. Caerbont, the original manufacturer of Smith’s dials in Britain, produces these dials, which adopt the latest CAN and LIN communication technology behind a classic analogue appearance.
Thanks to its carbon composite hard top and mohair folding roof, Supersport offers two distinctive body styles. Weighing just 19.7kg, the removable hard top is painted body-colour and integrates seamlessly into the car’s design. Its large, curved glass rear screen lets natural light flood the cabin, further connecting occupants with their surroundings while providing the benefits of a fixed roof.
Meanwhile, the folding mohair soft top transforms Supersport into a spirited convertible, delivering the exhilarating open-air driving experience Morgan has offered for decades. Available in multiple colour options, this mohair roof also comes with a dedicated cover for use while driving.
Supersport’s slimmer removable sidescreens appear similar to those of past Morgan models. Still, a new precision mounting system makes them easier to operate, improves fit and sealing, and removes visible fastenings. Pushing the interior door latch forwards releases the sidescreen and lifts it away. The mohair lower section of the sidescreen matches the chosen roof colour, while the aluminium upper section is finished in either satin silver or dark grey.
Inside, redesigned door cards complement taller door tops and take inspiration from mid-century audio equipment. Each door card houses Morgan’s characteristic ‘louvred’ speaker grille framed by a decorative wooden panel. Offered in 11 finishes, from engineered marquetry to classic walnut, the wood on the door cards coordinates with the centre console and lower dashboard.
“The unveiling of the Morgan Supersport represents five years of exploration, craftsmanship, and collaboration—our bold vision of 21st-Century Coachbuilding. It has been a labour of love for our team, providing a chance to push the boundaries and define Morgan’s flagship experience.
I take great pride in how our designers and artisans worked side by side from day one. This close cooperation ensures that every element of Supersport is functional yet brimming with character and story. We believe in design integrity—nothing is superfluous; it is merely an honest celebration of engineering, materiality, and contemporary form. Supersport’s commanding stance, sculpted surfaces, and striking proportions encapsulate this principle.
What excites me most is the additional breadth it brings to our lineup. The Plus lineup, timeless and iconic—now feels even more confident, its classic character standing alongside Supersport’s future-focused design. Every Morgan seeks to create unforgettable moments and evoke emotion, and Supersport captures that ambition perfectly.” Jonathan Wells, Chief Design Officer, Morgan Motor Company
“With Supersport, we aimed to create a design that remains unmistakably Morgan—those iconic wing and centre-body proportions—while clearly showing its dynamic strengths as a 21st-century sports car. We focused intently on details and often removed them to achieve a balanced, purposeful character that avoids pastiche.” Thomas Brainwood, Head of Industrial Design, Morgan Motor Company
Prioritising driving enjoyment over raw power, Supersport harnesses its new, lightweight CXV aluminium platform to heighten driver engagement. This platform refines the previous ‘CX’ structure by delivering improved balance, sophistication, and comfort, all while preserving the pure Morgan driving spirit. First launched in 2019, the original CX Generation Aluminium Platform underpinned the Plus Six, and Supersport’s CXV build takes this proven foundation to new heights.
The CXV Platform is optimised for the BMW B58 TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, which produces 335bhp and pairs with a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. This engine partnership continues Morgan’s 25-year collaboration with BMW, dating back to the Aero 8 launched in 2000.
Weighing only 102kg including front and rear subframes, the CXV Platform boosts torsional rigidity by 10% compared to the outgoing six-cylinder chassis, and this improves by a further 10% when the optional carbon fibre hard top is attached. Unavoidable suspension mounting points enjoy nearly double the stiffness for more predictable vehicle behaviour.
A revised steering system, featuring new shaft routing, sharpens steering feedback and response. Steering speed has increased by 13% over the previous six-cylinder model, and a new suspension setup enhances both ride comfort and body control. Standard front and rear anti-roll bars pair with evolved suspension geometry to deliver unprecedented handling sophistication among Morgan sports cars.
The optional Dynamic Handling Pack includes adjustable front and rear Nitron dampers and provides 24 clicks of damping adjustment for personalised performance. Combined with the optional Limited-slip Differential, the Supersport’s dynamic abilities become even more impressive.
Two new wheel designs constitute Morgan’s lightest alloys ever. The standard 18-inch flow-formed aluminium ‘Superlite’ wheel weighs just 10.8kg per corner, while the optional 19-inch forged aluminium ‘Aerolite’ wheel weighs only 9.7kg per corner—a significant reduction in unsprung mass compared to previous models. These wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres, selected for superior grip in wet conditions and more excellent driver feedback.
Supersport’s evolved design contributes to better aerodynamics than previous six-cylinder models. Through computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Morgan achieved a 5% reduction in drag, a 20% decrease in lift, and better aerodynamic balance.
“Our transformation of ‘CX’ into ‘CXV’ aimed to deliver a more consistent vehicle response, fostering stronger connections between driver, car, and road. We wanted to inspire confidence when pushing Supersport to its limits while offering a comfortable and engaging drive at lower speeds.
By adopting a data-led approach to every aspect of the former ‘CX’ chassis, suspension, and steering systems—and by running extensive real-world tests—we have preserved the essential Morgan character while elevating the platform’s dynamic potential.” Joe Whaler, Lead Chassis Engineer, Morgan Motor Company
Morgan’s development philosophy revolves around integrating technology discreetly into each vehicle’s construction and cabin experience. From its upgraded Sennheiser audio system to fresh smartphone connectivity, Supersport introduces practical features that never detract from the car’s traditional interior aesthetics.
The enhanced Sennheiser audio system delivers high-fidelity sound, offering substantial dynamic range and robust volume levels that match the driving excitement. It employs lightweight actuators in the dashboard for higher frequencies, moving-coil drivers in the doors for mid-range, and a ported subwoofer behind the seats for low-end bass. Additional actuators in the seat bases let occupants feel the music, further heightening the audio experience. Using pioneering actuators, the system remains lightweight, preserving the Supersport’s agile performance.
Supersport also becomes the first Morgan to support hands-free calling. Connected via existing Bluetooth architecture, three microphones discreetly positioned in the centre console use beamforming technology to target voices and minimise background noise. The amplifier employs active noise cancellation and echo suppression for crystal-clear calls—even with the roof down.
The Sennheiser audio system and hands-free calling are operated through a multi-function dial on the dashboard and a button on the left indicator stalk. An LCD screen between the analogue dials displays track information and caller details. The centre console now includes a subtle storage tray with wireless charging for compatible smartphones.
Supersport represents Morgan’s distinctive blend of traditional craftsmanship and well-placed modern technology—a concept the company calls ‘21st Century Coachbuilding.’ This principle guides the vehicle’s design and engineering and every step of its construction.
Each aluminium body, shaped by hand over an ash wood frame, is skilfully crafted using time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. This body unites seamlessly with the cutting-edge aluminium platform, encompassing modern brakes, suspension, and electronics. Sixty per cent of the aluminium in Supersport’s chassis and body is sourced from recycled material.
Morgan uses the highest-quality Scottish leather—a by-product of the agricultural sector- inside the cabin in carefully chosen areas. While modern laser scanning ensures exceptional precision, skilled craftspeople still trim every hide using traditional methods and tools, producing minimal waste. By its very nature, every hand-built Morgan uses natural materials economically.
‘Supersport’ is a name that first appeared in Morgan’s lineup in 1927, describing models with enhanced sporting capabilities. It traditionally featured an “s” at the end and followed the core model name, adorning three- and four-wheeled Morgan variants.
True to Morgan form, Supersport allows owners to customise their cars extensively, resulting in unique vehicles. Beyond the vast array of colours and options, buyers can collaborate with the original design team to incorporate bespoke materials and distinctive features. Supersport is homologated for the UK, European, and Rest of World markets and is available to order now. Dealer demonstrators and initial customer cars will enter production imminently, with test drives expected from mid-April. Prospective owners are encouraged to register their interest with their nearest Morgan dealership or through the official Morgan website.
