Revolutionising Classic Rolls-Royce: Evice's Innovative Heritage Remastering
Evice, a British company specialising in heritage remastering, has recently started testing its XP1 prototype based on a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The XP1 embodies Evice's commitment to "crafting bespoke masterpieces without compromise" through its advanced, in-house-developed electrification technology, which is currently undergoing comprehensive testing.
The next step in this innovative journey, the production of VP1, is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025. This phase will represent the realisation of Evice's vision to merge state-of-the-art technology with unparalleled bespoke craftsmanship seamlessly.
Established in 2023 by three passionate British engineers, Evice's core concept revolves around enhancing the elegance, spirit, and ’ elegance, spirit, and grace by integrating globally leading technologies developed primarily in-house in a quest for perfection.
Beginning with the charm of a mid-century icon, Evice’s skilled artisans, alongside experts in powertrain, dynamics, noise, vibration, harshness (NVH), and design, meticulously assess each aspect of the vehicle. Their profound understanding of the cars, their era, and the associated culture ensures that every enhancement aligns with Rolls-Royce’s original vision. An Evice remastered Rolls-Royce represents what the factory might have produced 60 years ago had today’s technology been available. It is a masterpiece of passion, engineering, design, and craftsmanship, resulting in timeless automotive art.
Every modification is carefully scrutinised to match the refinement and distinguished characteristics of the original model while incorporating modern reliability, performance, and convenience. "The result is a bespoke masterpiece, developed without compromise," states Evice. Each hand-built vehicle represents thousands of hours of development time, and a bespoke design process ensures that each car embodies the client’s unique aesthetic.
The remastered vehicles boast an 800-volt in-house electrical system with electric motors that deliver 400 horsepower, providing dynamic and effortless driving that surpasses the original engine’s performance. With a 77 kilowatt-hour battery, the current XP1 prototype can travel more than 200 miles on a single charge.
Enhancements such as active suspension and an upgraded braking system maintain the iconic, cloud-like Rolls-Royce ride while adding dynamic composure. Inside, Evice has upgraded the vehicles comprehensively, equipping them with modern comforts and conveniences. Features include heated and ventilated electrically adjustable seats, complete climate control air conditioning, and an enhanced audio system with a hidden subwoofer. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, and discreet reversing cameras can be concealed when not used.
Matthew Pearson, CEO at Evice, commented: “Evice’s mission is to honour the legacy of these classic Rolls-Royce vehicles with modern engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. Our projects with models like the Corniche and Silver Shadow involve reimagining their timeless elegance while modernising them for enhanced refinement, performance, and reliability. It's a comprehensive ground-up remastering for the modern age that covers every detail, from powertrain and chassis to interior design, safety, and technology. The factory would have produced Rolls-Royce cars remastered by Evice 60 years ago, had the technology been available.”
