Revving Up Luxury: Bentley to Launch Groundbreaking Fourth-Generation Continental GT with Hybrid Powertrain in June
Bentley is set to unveil the revolutionary fourth-generation Continental GT in June, featuring the groundbreaking Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain. This latest model delivers a stunning 782 PS and 1000 Nm of torque, an impressive 50 miles (80 km) of electric-only range and a CO2 emission level below 50 g/km under the WLTP standards. As Bentley's most influential and dynamic road car in its 105-year history, the new Continental GT also emerges as the brand's most sustainable vehicle while continuing to offer the handcrafted luxury and premium materials synonymous with Bentley.
Equipped with the latest chassis technology, the new Continental GT includes active all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, an electronic Limited Slip Differential, 48V electric active anti-roll control, and advanced dual-valve dampers. The car also features a fresh design and a suite of cutting-edge technology, defining the latest evolution of a model that has epitomized the modern Bentley.
Since its debut in 2002, the Continental GT has been a cornerstone of Bentley's revival, sparking a ten-fold increase in sales and redefining the brand for the contemporary era. Inspired by the 1952 R Type Continental—the world's fastest four-seat car at the time—the Continental GT incorporated the same essential design elements: the power line, the haunch, and the sloping roofline. This design philosophy and performance vision have made the Continental GT synonymous with luxury Grand Touring across continents.
The impact of the Continental GT has been profound; Bentley's annual sales skyrocketed from about 1,000 cars to over 10,000 within four years of its launch. The second-generation model was introduced in Paris in 2010, followed by a new 4.0-litre V8 option in 2012. The third-generation model, launched in 2018, featured a new platform, engine, suspension, electrical architecture, and redesigned interior and exterior, setting new standards in the competitive luxury GT market.
Over the past two decades, the Continental GT has set speed records, clinched championships, and triumphed in endurance races worldwide. As Bentley's second most popular model, the Continental GT represents one in every three Bentleys sold. Soon, Bentley will handcraft the 100,000th unit of this iconic Grand Tourer at its Dream Factory in Crewe, England, marking another milestone in the Continental GT's legacy.
