Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Announces Record Growth and £300 Million Investment in 2024
In 2024, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars became a premier luxury brand by crafting its most intricate, personalised, and valuable motor cars. This success has led to a significant investment of over £300 million in the expansion of the Home of Rolls-Royce, representing the most important financial commitment to Goodwood since its inception in 2003 and reinforcing the brand's confidence in its future within the UK. The record-breaking Bespoke achievements in 2024 reflect a growing client demand for uniquely ambitious and valuable motor cars, enhancing the exclusive and highly personalised Rolls-Royce ownership experience. This demonstrates our dedication to delivering value to our clients and all stakeholders involved with our brand.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has committed to investing more than £300 million to extend its manufacturing site at Goodwood, advancing the company’s pledge to deliver top-tier value to clients through the creation of the most complex, personal, and valuable luxury items, accompanied by an unmatched customer experience. The marque's performance in 2024, which includes a record year for Bespoke orders and the third-highest sales result in its history, confirms the success of this strategic approach.
The expansion will provide additional capacity for the increasingly sophisticated and high-value Bespoke and Coachbuild projects that our clients, who see luxury as deeply personal, increasingly seek. It also prepares the facility for the marque's future shift towards a fully electric vehicle.
This substantial investment is the most significant capital infusion since the facility opened on 1 January 2003. At that time, it employed about 300 people and produced just one motor car daily. The building has remained unchanged despite considerable internal changes over the past two decades. The workforce has grown more than eightfold, and the production rate has increased to up to 28 motor cars a day.
Over 2,500 individuals work at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, including many highly skilled manufacturing and craft specialists, alongside approximately 7,500 people in the broader UK supply chain. In 2023, an independent study by the London School of Economics confirmed that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars contributes approximately half a billion pounds to the UK economy annually, showcasing its pivotal role as a leading representative of 'UK PLC'.
Planning permission for the extension of the Home of Rolls-Royce was granted in 2024, a landmark year that also marked the 120th anniversary of the initial meeting between the company’s founders, The Hon. Charles Stewart Rolls and Henry Royce. Site preparation and landscaping are currently underway.
Throughout 2024, the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers, and craftspeople undertook some of its most creatively ambitious and technically challenging projects. These projects featured innovative materials and craftsmanship techniques, resulting in uniquely resonant masterpieces that perfectly reflected each client's tastes and personalities.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ commitment to bespoke luxury has never been more substantial. This is evidenced by the record levels of Bespoke offerings in 2024, with the average value of bespoke content per motor car increasing by 10% yearly, achieving the highest levels in the company’s history.
