Stellantis Announces CEO Carlos Tavares' Resignation and Outlines Succession Plans
Stellantis N.V. ("Stellantis" or "the Company") today announced Carlos Tavares's resignation as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, as accepted by the Company's Board of Directors, chaired by John Elkann.
The process of appointing a new permanent Chief Executive Officer is progressing smoothly, with a Special Committee of the Board managing it. The appointment will be finalised in the first half of 2025. In the interim, John Elkann will chair a newly formed Executive Committee.
Stellantis has reaffirmed the financial guidance it shared with the financial community on October 31, 2024, regarding its full-year results in 2024.
Henri de Castries, Senior Independent Director at Stellantis, stated: "Since its inception, Stellantis has thrived due to a strong alignment among its reference shareholders, the Board, and the CEO. However, differing opinions have emerged recently, leading to today's mutual decision."
Chairman John Elkann added: "We are grateful to Carlos for his years of service, his significant contributions to the formation of Stellantis, and his earlier successes in turning around PSA and Opel. As we establish our new Interim Executive Committee, I am eager to continue working with all Stellantis colleagues. Together, we will complete the CEO transition and continue to execute our strategic objectives for the long-term benefit of Stellantis and all its stakeholders."
