TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Reveals Evolved GR Yaris for Exceptional Performance and Driving Thrills

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) has unveiled an evolved version of the GR Yaris, reflecting its commitment to continuously refine this performance hatchback based on insights gained through ongoing motorsport participation.

This latest GR Yaris was developed using expertise and technology from TGR’s multiple title-winning FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) team. It embodies TGR’s aim to create ever-better cars through motorsport.

Since the GR Yaris launched in 2020, engineers have relentlessly improved it by testing it in the intense environments of rallying and racing. They thoroughly identified and tackled issues, evaluated driving data, and closely inspected damaged parts to enhance reliability and performance further.

Lessons from competitions such as Super Taikyu and the Japanese Rally Championship influenced the GR Yaris’s recent evolution. These insights heighten its driving capabilities, strengthen the bond between driver and car, and enhance the GR Yaris’s trademark fun-to-drive sensation.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has further optimised the eight-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission by refining gear selection control for sporty driving. They have also enlarged the footrest to complement two-pedal driving for added comfort.

Engineers introduced special bolts with greater fastening rigidity to improve steering response and straight-line stability. These wider bolt heads connect rear suspension members to the body, while new ribbed flanges secure the front lower suspension arms, lower ball joints, and rear shock absorbers. Suspension settings, as does the higher torque applied to sure bolts, reflect these changes.

TGR fine-tuned the shock absorber damping force to balance precise control with a comfortable ride. Repeated adjustments to the electric power steering—guided by professional race driver Kazuya Oshima—create a heightened 1:1 sensation between steering input and wheel response.

Inspired by knowledge gained from the WRC and Japanese Rally Championship, this evolved GR Yaris now offers an optional vertical handbrake or both manual and automatic transmissions.

The latest GR Yaris is now on sale in Europe. It is ready to deliver a motorsport-inspired driving experience to enthusiasts seeking pure performance and engaging dynamics.
