Lamborghini Temerario: The 10,000 RPM Hybrid Supercar Conquering Misano Adriatico

Squadra Corse Factory Driver Andrea Caldarelli unleashed the Lamborghini Temerario at the Misano Adriatico circuit, demonstrating why it remains the only production super sports car capable of reaching 10,000 rpm. Caldarelli stars in “The Red Zone,” a video spotlighting Temerario’s formidable performance and the rigorous physical training required for gruelling endurance racing.

This pioneering hybrid powertrain combines a twin-turbo V8 engine—designed and developed entirely in Sant’Agata Bolognese—with three electric motors, delivering a total of 920 CV. The results are spectacular: it blasts from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 343 km/h.

The engineering behind such high revs borrows significantly from motorsport. A flat-plane crankshaft ensures optimal fluid dynamics with a balanced firing order between the two engine banks, producing a distinctly resonant sound. Titanium connecting rods reduce overall weight and rotating masses thanks to the material’s excellent strength and lightness. Motorsport inspiration continues with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon)-coated finger followers, which offer increased hardness and durability to withstand speeds up to 11,000 rpm.

“Temerario is an incredible super sports car,” Caldarelli commented, “uniting top-tier performance with an undeniably fun-to-drive nature. The V8 engine’s power band feels boundless. As the tachometer soars towards 10,000 rpm, the sensation mirrors that of a race car, complete with a unique soundtrack and an authentic, compelling driving experience.”

Caldarelli also sampled two driving features that elevate the Temerario to the best-in-class for driving pleasure and excitement: Launch Control and Drift Mode. Launch Control propels the car from a standstill to its full potential at the press of a “chequered flag” button at the centre of the rotary switch on the steering wheel’s left side.

Meanwhile, Drift Mode debuts on the Temerario to help drivers generate controlled oversteer for maximum enjoyment. Operated via the lower right rotary switch on the steering wheel, Drift Mode offers three distinct levels: Level 1 facilitates oversteer with limited yaw angle, progressing to Level 3, intended for seasoned drivers seeking wider yaw angles and an elevated challenge.
