Toyota Hilux GR SPORT II: Enhanced Performance, Rugged Style & Ultimate Off-Road Capability

Toyota has raised the bar once again with the launch of the Hilux GR SPORT II, delivering heightened performance, exceptional ride comfort and a commanding presence on and off the road. Sitting proudly at the top of the Hilux range, this model blends the legendary durability and reliability of the Hilux with the motorsport pedigree of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, renowned for its triumphs in the gruelling Dakar Rally and World Rally-Raid Championship.

Drawing from top-level motorsport expertise, the Hilux GR SPORT II is designed to inspire confidence. It showcases Toyota’s commitment to building ever-better road vehicles through real-world racing experience.

The GR SPORT II exudes strength with its muscular styling, featuring a widened stance, increased ride height, and a sharper approach angle for improved off-road performance. Yet, it doesn’t compromise on utility — maintaining a class-leading 3,500 kg towing capacity and 1,000 kg payload.

Toyota has significantly enhanced both chassis and suspension engineering, offering wider front and rear tracks, revised dampers, and a new rear axle design for better control and comfort over rough terrain. These upgrades translate into sharper steering response, improved stability, and reduced body roll — all contributing to a sportier, more rewarding drive.

Powered by a proven 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, the GR SPORT II delivers a robust 204 DIN hp (150 kW) and a hefty 500 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth six-speed automatic transmission. Whether on the motorway or deep off the beaten track, this engine offers reliable muscle and responsiveness.

Upgraded monotube shock absorbers with large-diameter pistons provide faster, more consistent performance under demanding conditions. The Hilux GR SPORT II also benefits from reduced noise and vibration levels, ensuring a refined drive regardless of the terrain.

Visually, the Hilux GR SPORT II makes a bold statement. Its athletic stance is enhanced by black over-fenders, newly designed 17-inch black alloy wheels, red-painted rear springs and brake callipers, and distinctive G-mesh pattern grilles bearing the iconic TOYOTA script. Blacked-out elements — including side steps, mirrors, handles and rear bumper — create a cohesive and assertive aesthetic, complemented by a silver front under-run and exclusive GR SPORT badging.

Every element, from the new “air curtain” aerodynamic enhancements to the central spoke wheel design, has been engineered not only for looks but for improved aero-efficiency and reduced drag.

Step inside the Hilux GR SPORT II and you’ll find a purposeful, premium cabin. The monochrome black interior is punctuated by bold red details, such as seat belts and stitching, reflecting its sporty DNA. Sports seats upholstered in a mix of synthetic suede and leather, with silver perforations and contrast stitching, offer enhanced grip and comfort during high-energy driving.

Aluminium sport pedals, paddle shifters, and carbon fibre-style trim on the doors and dash reinforce the motorsport-inspired feel. GR branding throughout the instrumentation and infotainment display adds a final performance touch.

Tech-savvy drivers will appreciate the standard Toyota Smart Connect+ system, accessed via an 8-inch touchscreen or advanced voice control. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® are available wirelessly, ensuring seamless smartphone integration.

The multimedia system features cloud-based navigation with real-time traffic updates and an embedded sat-nav for offline use — perfect for adventures where connectivity is limited.
