Unleash Performance and Practicality: The New BMW M5 Touring Redefines Sports Car Dynamics

The all-new BMW M5 Touring, boasting an impressive fuel consumption of 141.2 – 166.2 mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 39 g/km, marks the third Touring model in the BMW M5's illustrious history. BMW M GmbH introduced its first Touring variant in 1992 and revisited the concept in 2007 with the fourth generation. Today, this new model offers a choice of two body variants for the M5, continuing a 40-year legacy of innovation.

The BMW M5 Touring meets the demands of enthusiasts who seek the dynamic excellence of an M model and the refined performance of the M5 without compromising on space and comfort. The car offers a versatile load capacity of up to 1,630 litres, ideal for leisure and long journeys.

This model features a fresh interpretation of the traditional BMW M design elements, optimised for cooling and aerodynamics. The pronounced roof spoiler and slim D-pillar are notable, enhancing the car’s dynamic silhouette. The body-coloured surfaces flared wheel arches, and M-specific front and rear aprons set the M5 Touring apart from the BMW 5 Series Touring.

The BMW M5 Touring is engineered for thrilling drives on the racetrack and the road. Its long wheelbase, wide tracks, low centre of gravity, and near-perfect weight distribution are complemented by a rigid body structure and aerodynamically tuned chassis. This setup is finely calibrated for the M HYBRID drive system, delivering an exhilarating driving experience.

The BMW M5 Touring's M HYBRID system, similar to the M5 Saloon, generates a whopping 727 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Thanks to its partly electrified powertrain, this hybrid setup achieves staggering performance figures and supports nearly silent, emission-free driving up to 42 miles.

From the side, the BMW M5 Touring showcases a model-specific roof spoiler and a stretched roofline that underlines its sporting aesthetics. The car is notably more comprehensive than the BMW 5 Series Touring, with a muscular stance further emphasised by bespoke body styling and optional high-gloss black or carbon fibre exterior mirror caps.

At the rear, the BMW M5 Touring features a robust design with large, monolithic surfaces and slim tail lights, contributing to a broader, more commanding appearance. A distinctive two-section diffuser optimises aerodynamics and traction, while the iconic M twin exhaust tailpipes nod to its racing heritage.

This third Touring iteration of the BMW M5 also debuts an electrified drive system, merging a high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with an integrated electric motor. This powerhouse setup allows the M5 Touring to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds, with the electric motor enhancing both the torque and the vehicle's environmental credentials.

Regarding handling, the BMW M5 Touring excels with its sophisticated chassis design, featuring a double-wishbone front axle that optimises rigidity and weight distribution for dynamic performance and comfort. The interior matches this high standard, offering M multifunction seats, a panoramic glass sunroof, and an advanced infotainment system, including BMW iDrive 8.5, ensuring both driver and passengers enjoy their journey in supreme style and comfort.

With a wealth of driver assistance and parking systems, the BMW M5 Touring combines high performance with daily usability and safety, making it a pinnacle of sports car design tailored for the demands of modern driving.
