Unveiling Bentley's New Flying Spur: A Pioneering Four-Door Supercar with Hybrid Technology

Today, Bentley unveils its first-ever four-door supercar—the latest Flying Spur, now in its fourth iteration. Nearly two decades later, Bentley continues to set the benchmark for luxury performance saloons.

The debut model, the performance-centric Flying Spur Speed, showcases Bentley’s innovative Ultra Performance Hybrid system, providing remarkable capabilities. In pure EV mode, it offers a quiet, emission-free journey for up to 47 miles (76 km), perfect for Zero-Emission Zones or urban commuting. When the drive demands dynamism, its combined 782 PS from the Bentley V8 and electric motor propels it from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, surpassing its predecessor by half a second.

Externally, the design echoes the muscular elegance of the third-generation model introduced in 2019. However, significant updates lie beneath the bonnet with a brand-new powertrain and electrical architecture, introducing the most advanced automotive technologies in any high-end saloon.

The cabin benefits from refinements such as new stitching choices, extended 3D diamond-patterned hide, and enhanced wellness features, including intelligent air ionisation and automatic postural adjustment for all seats, enriching customisation possibilities. The introduction of the My Bentley App Studio further enriches the driving experience with a suite of convenient applications.

Its Ultra Performance Hybrid all-wheel-drive system underpins the Flying Spur Speed, blending a 600 PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a neatly integrated 190 PS electric motor. In Sport Mode, this setup unleashes a full 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, providing immediate thrust supplemented by the robust resonance of the V8.

Compared to its W12 predecessor, the new model boasts an 11% increase in system torque and a 19% uplift in power, making it the most potent Bentley saloon ever. The innovative V8 engine, enhanced by twin single-scroll turbochargers and an advanced electric motor, eliminates turbo lag and allows for cleaner combustion and reduced emissions.

The 25.9 kWh battery supports up to 47 miles of electric range, with the vehicle offering a comprehensive 515-mile range when combined with the V8. The battery can be fully charged in just 2¾ hours, reflecting significant advancements in charging technology.

The Bentley Performance Active Chassis is standard, featuring state-of-the-art technologies like Bentley Dynamic Ride and All-Wheel Steering. The chassis is finely tuned to accommodate the car’s rear-biased weight distribution, enhancing driving dynamics across different modes and ensuring optimal traction under all conditions.

The new Flying Spur Speed embodies performance luxury, with its dynamic exterior accented by Graphite-finished brightware and bespoke grille designs. The interior, too, reflects Bentley's hallmark of craftsmanship, with new seat designs and an optional Dark Chrome Specification for a subtle yet sophisticated ambience.

The latest electrical architecture in the Flying Spur Speed significantly advances in-car technology, from infotainment to driver assistance, enhancing overall comfort and connectivity for all occupants.
