Xiaomi EV Sets New Four-Door Car Lap Record at Nürburgring in 2024
On 28 October 2024, the Xiaomi EV established a new lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, clocking a 6'46"874 and surpassing the seven-year-old record for the fastest four-door car. Renowned for its rigorous challenges and complexity, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is a favoured venue for testing vehicle performance, tuning, and reliability amongst car enthusiasts globally.
Since 2014, only seven fully electric cars have been listed on the Nürburgring leaderboard. In July, Xiaomi EV announced its goal to dominate this circuit, aspiring to secure the title of the "fastest four-door electric car at the Nürburgring within ten years." Their challenge strategy is divided into two phases: the first phase involved a prototype car taking on the non-production lap records in October 2024, while the second phase will focus on a production model targeting the production car lap records in 2025.
The Xiaomi EV R&D team was stationed at the track, conducting extensive repetitive tests and enhancements. On its first official attempt, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype achieved an impressive time of 6'46"874, marking a significant milestone for the Xiaomi EV only three years into its establishment.
Equipped with Xiaomi EV’s newly developed V8s super motor, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system comprising two V8s and one V6s, delivering a total maximum power of 1548 PS. The prototype accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. Its advanced three-electric system, chassis torque vector control, and aerodynamic design have established this new record.
