Zenvo Automotive and Ricardo Partner to Develop Advanced Aurora Supercar Transmission

Zenvo Automotive is rapidly developing the Aurora model, and it recently confirmed Ricardo as the project's transmission partner. The gearbox experts will collaborate closely with Zenvo's engineering team to bring the Aurora to fruition. The prototypes are expected to debut this spring.

Ricardo, based in Shoreham-by-Sea, England, boasts significant expertise in crafting high-performance gearboxes and transmissions for some of the world's most potent supercars and hypercars. Their profound knowledge will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Aurora provides an exhilarating driving experience at any speed, whether on the road or the track.

"Ricardo has been fundamental in enhancing the performance of some of the world's most thrilling and powerful cars in recent years. They possess a precise understanding of what is required to achieve engineering excellence and captivating driver engagement," says Jon Gunner, Chief Technical Officer at Zenvo Automotive. "The Aurora project is gathering pace every week and is now entering a vital phase. Recruiting Ricardo as a technical partner is a significant achievement as we advance performance limits. We are set to challenge the norms further as the development programme accelerates, leading up to the initial engine start."

The Aurora will feature a sophisticated transmission system that accommodates four-wheel and rear-wheel drive configurations, integral to its bespoke 6.6-litre quad-turbo V12 'Mjølner' engine. This seven-speed hybridised setup will effortlessly produce up to 1,850bhp and 1,500Nm of torque.

"We are thrilled to be appointed as the transmission partner for the Zenvo Aurora project," comments Richard Guest, Managing Director – Performance Products at Ricardo. "Like Zenvo Automotive, we at Ricardo are committed to uncompromised performance for our clients, and we are excited to contribute our extensive expertise in transmission and driveline innovation to this project. We eagerly anticipate aiding in creating Zenvo’s lightest and most powerful road car to date."
