Discover the Limited Edition BMW Skytop: An Icon of Automotive Luxury
With the introduction of the limited edition BMW Skytop, BMW is set to thrill collectors and driving enthusiasts. Following the success of the BMW 3.0 CSL, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH in 2022, the BMW Skytop offers an unmatched blend of performance and luxury (fuel consumption combined: 11.6 litres/100 km [24.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 264 g/km; CO2 class: G; provisional values).
Crafted with impeccable precision, the BMW Skytop epitomises the joy of driving with its timelessly elegant design. First introduced as the BMW Concept Skytop at the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como, this two-seater roadster captivated automotive experts and enthusiasts alike, prompting BMW to announce a limited production run of just 50 units.
Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, revealed the decision to proceed with production at an event hosted by the House of BMW in Milan. The design study showcased there sold out rapidly, confirming its appeal among collectors. Van Hooydonk expressed his delight at the model's reception, highlighting the exotic design and dynamic elegance of the BMW Skytop.
In parallel, BMW also launched another limited edition model, the BMW 3.0 CSL, as a tribute to the iconic "Batmobile" of the early 1970s, with production similarly capped at 50 vehicles.
The BMW Skytop stands out as a collectable masterpiece, continuing BMW’s legacy of iconic roadsters like the BMW 507 and BMW Z8. Its muscular body and precise lines exude dynamism, enhanced by the legendary BMW shark-nose design and a sleek tail.
Underneath its striking exterior, the BMW Skytop is powered by BMW’s most robust 4.4-litre V8 engine, producing 625 hp. This engine pairs with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, enabling the roadster to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds.
The exterior design features innovative elements such as integrated winglets replacing traditional door handles and the slimmest LED headlights designed for BMW. Inside, the BMW Skytop is just as impressive, with luxurious materials and sophisticated colour schemes that harmonise the interior with the exterior.
The BMW Skytop's rarity and refined aesthetics, from the soft-close door function to the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, make it a pinnacle of modern automotive luxury. Each detail confirms BMW's commitment to offering an exhilarating and exclusive driving experience.
