Explore Caterham's New State-of-the-Art Factory in Dartford: Boosting Production and Offering Exclusive Tours
Caterham has officially opened its new factory in Dartford, Kent. Positioned in the heart of a nine-acre industrial park named Dartford X, this 54,000 sq ft facility marks a significant expansion for Caterham. Thanks to a multi-million-pound investment from VT Holdings, one of Japan's largest retail groups, the factory's annual production capacity will surge by 50% to 750 units.
Strategically located near its previous site, the new facility allows Caterham to retain its expert workforce, which hand-assembles every car. Enhanced with state-of-the-art paint booths, an engine shop, a parts warehouse, and 33 dedicated car-building bays, the facility underscores a leap in operational efficiency and precision.
Caterham's CEO, Bob Laishley, highlights the move as a transformative moment for the brand. For the first time in the company's 50-year history, the production, engineering, motorsport, and commercial teams will be united under one roof. This consolidation is set to streamline operations and boost productivity significantly.
Starting today, Caterham invites enthusiasts to explore the new facility through guided tours, offering a behind-the-scenes look at where its iconic cars are brought to life. Additionally, the brand plans to enhance customer engagement with various events and exclusive vehicle handovers.
