Explore THK's Revolutionary Electric Car LSR-05 Debut at Paris Auto Salon

THK, the Japanese technology leader and key supplier to global automakers, will unveil its fully operational electric car prototype, the LSR-05, at an international auto show for the first time. Initially previewed at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, the LSR-05 emerges from a collaboration with Shiro Nakamura and SN DESIGN PLATFORM, highlighting THK's array of advanced technologies.

Established in 1971 in Tokyo, THK quickly gained acclaim for its pioneering linear motion technology. Over the decades, it has expanded its reach, supplying essential components to the machine tool and automotive industries from its 37 factories worldwide, including a significant manufacturing base in Ensisheim, France.

Akihiro Teramachi, THK's Chief Executive Officer, shared his enthusiasm: “Presenting a THK prototype vehicle outside Japan for the first time at the Paris Auto Salon marks a special day for our company.”

The LSR-05, a feasible prototype, incorporates various THK innovations such as the Stealth Seat-slide system, in-wheel motors with four-wheel steering, active suspension, and a contactless charging system.

Designed with the esteemed SN DESIGN PLATFORM, the LSR-05 epitomises Luxury, Sportiness, and Revolution. This four-seater crossover coupe combines dynamic and elegant design, measuring 4995 mm in length, 1965 mm in width, and 1530 mm in height.

Shiro Nakamura, CEO of SN DESIGN PLATFORM, remarked, “The LSR-05 stands as a testament to Japanese innovation and precision. The smart interior design features a unique seating arrangement empowered by THK’s Stealth Seat slide system, enhancing comfort and space.”

At the Paris Auto Salon, Takashi Teramachi, COO of THK, will showcase the technologies integrated into the LSR-05. The vehicle is based on a platform featuring two 93 kW (800 V) THK original variable-flux in-wheel electric motors at the rear and a 220 kW (800 V) motor at the front, supporting a four-wheel steering system. This setup, MR fluid active dampers, and electric brakes ensure superior comfort and stability.

Furthermore, the cabin offers a hidden seat adjustment system that ensures a flat floor, adding to the luxurious and comfortable interior. The LSR-05 also boasts a contactless charging system, exemplifying THK’s vision for the future of mobility.

Looking ahead, Takahashi Teramachi announced, “Our journey doesn’t end with the LSR-05. We’re actively developing the next-generation LSR-07 prototype and look forward to unveiling more at next year’s Japan Mobility Show.”
