Hennessey Launches Supercharged 'H850' Mustang Dark Horse: A 850 HP Powerhouse Redefining American Muscle

Hennessey, the renowned hypercar manufacturer based in Texas, unveils the performance data for its supercharged 'H850' Mustang Dark Horse, now in production at its Sealy headquarters. The engineers at Hennessey have elevated the iconic American pony car, the Mustang, by boosting its power by 70 per cent to a staggering 850 horsepower, accompanied by an enhanced torque of 650 lb-ft.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse represents the high-performance iteration of the celebrated 'S650' Mustang. This version begins with a naturally aspirated Gen-4 Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine. Hennessey enhances this setup with a robust supercharger, a high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors, a high-capacity fuel pump, and a meticulously developed engine management system by Hennessey.

Ford's Dark Horse delivers 500 bhp and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds with its 10-speed automatic transmission. However, Hennessey’s upgraded H850 Mustang reduces this to just 3.2 seconds. While the standard Dark Horse completes the ¼ mile in 12 seconds at 118.4 mph, Hennessey's version surpasses this, achieving the same distance in 10.9 seconds at 133 mph.

John Hennessey, founder and CEO, states, "Our supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse intensifies Ford’s commitment to delivering passionate products for automotive enthusiasts, like the formidable V8-powered S650 Mustang. We’re thrilled to amplify the Hennessey spirit of performance in America’s most legendary muscle car, complete with all the thrilling sights, sounds, and sensations that fuel our enthusiasm!”

Moreover, Hennessey’s enhancement of the stock Ford Mustang even outperforms the upcoming $300,000 Ford Mustang GTD—a street-legal race car with 800 horsepower. In contrast, Hennessey's enhancements deliver exceptional value with supercar-level performance and the exhilarating sound of a supercharged V8.

Owners of the Hennessey 'H850' Mustang can further personalise their Dark Horse with optional Hennessey Heritage Graphics and forged performance wheels in gloss anthracite. Each model also features distinctive Hennessey and H850 badging, Hennessey embroidered headrests, and a serial-numbered engine plaque, setting it apart in both performance and style.

The 'H850' Mustang Dark Horse is available in automatic and 6-speed manual variants, each backed by Hennessey's extensive 3-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty.
