Xtrac Achieves Two-Star FIA Environmental Accreditation: Paving the Way for Sustainable Motorsport Excellence

Xtrac, a leading developer of highly efficient transmission systems for top-level motorsport and high-performance automotive sectors, has successfully achieved Two-Star FIA Environmental Accreditation.

"Receiving this certification is a significant step forward and a remarkable accomplishment for a Tier 1 motorsport supplier," states Adrian Moore, Xtrac’s Chief Executive. "It underscores our enduring commitment to achieving net zero."

The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme assists stakeholders in motorsport and mobility globally in measuring and enhancing their environmental performance. This programme incorporates a clear, consistent ecological management framework, providing stakeholders with a three-tier accreditation system to recognise their efforts.

"Engaging with the FIA programme has deepened our understanding of environmental issues and the development of continuous improvement processes," Moore adds. "This involvement positions us ideally to continue our efforts towards the coveted Three-Star accreditation." He highlights that such accreditation complements their investment in cutting-edge manufacturing equipment and employee training programmes.

The programme encourages the industry to adopt environmental measures and enhance its ecological footprint. The accreditation process evaluates best practices in environmental management across various aspects, including energy and water usage, waste management, pollution prevention, material procurement, and carbon emissions monitoring.

After an initial review by FIA Sustainability auditors, which identified potential improvement areas, Xtrac completed the necessary enhancements. Using the FIA’s comprehensive self-assessment tool, Xtrac submitted an audit request with all required documentation. After fulfilling all criteria, Xtrac received its Two-Star accreditation certificate and an audit report offering further recommendations. This certification remains valid for two years.

Kirsty Knight, Xtrac’s People & Culture Director, comments, "It was a colossal team effort and extremely rewarding. We aim to keep advancing our environmental performance during this period." She thanks Cristiana Pace, Bridget Haywood, and Adam Ellis from Enovation Consulting for their support in achieving this milestone. She commends the dedicated and skilled Xtrac team for making it possible. "FIA accreditation not only boosts our credibility with clients and stakeholders but also sets the stage for us to attain the Three-Star accreditation and the globally recognised ISO 14001 EMS certification."
